My essential camera gear

As someone who loves to travel and share my adventures through blogging, I’ve collected some fantastic tools that help me capture every moment perfectly. Let me walk you through my essential camera gear*.

My Smartphone

I’ve been sharing my travel journey since my university days, initially just for fun during my holidays. These days, smartphones, like the iPhone, are incredibly capable of producing high-quality images. I began this journey with an iPhone 12, and now I’ve upgraded to an iPhone 15 Pro, which I use for posting stories and “every-day” content on Instagram and Tik Tok. It’s fascinating how much camera technology has evolved, making it easier for anyone to post beautiful pictures and videos on social media platforms.

My Camera

Although the iPhone camera is really good, it can’t match the quality of a dedicated camera. I use the Sony A7 III, a great choice for travel photographers. It features a 24-megapixel full-frame sensor and BIONZ X processor, ensuring excellent images even in challenging lighting. Its autofocus is fast and precise, making it user-friendly for beginners. For video, it offers 4K recording that leverages the sensor’s high dynamic range, allowing you to capture high-quality footage, even in low light.

My Drone

The drone truly transforms the way I create content. For those looking to elevate their content creation game, I can’t recommend investing in a drone enough. Beginners will find the DJI Mini 4 Pro especially user-friendly. It’s light, portable, and less burdened by regulations due to its weight. This drone captures stunning 4K videos and comes with a 48-megapixel camera, providing incredibly detailed and vibrant images. It also features a comprehensive obstacle detection system, ensuring safe flights. With its advanced transmission system, you won’t have to worry about losing signal or video quality during flights.

I immediately purchased the “Fly More Combo” package because it includes replacement parts for the wings, two additional batteries, and more.

My Action Camera

The GoPro Hero10 Black is my go-to for capturing action-packed or underwater scenes that might be too risky for a phone or regular camera. Despite being aimed at beginners, the quality is astounding, offering 5.3K videos, 23MP photos, and amazing video stabilization. It even automatically uploads your footage to the cloud when charging.

I also bought this waterproof protective cover. While it’s not necessary for the GoPro since it’s already waterproof, it’s always better to be safe than sorry.

My Gimbal

Since my Sony A7 III lacks a stabilization mode and tends to produce shaky footage (really makes you appreciate how good iPhone stabilization has become), I invested in the DJI RSC 2 Pro Gimbal. This gimbal has been a game-changer, allowing me to capture silky-smooth and dynamic footage. Now, I can move around freely – walking or even running with my camera – without being restricted to just the reach of my arms for smooth motion.

If you need a compact, backpack-friendly solution for stable, smart footage, this gimbal might be perfect for you. The combo package offers a much more refined experience compared to many competitors.

My Tripods

I have a few different tripods to suit various needs.

For restaurant collaborations, I use a sturdy overhead tripod that offers versatile angle adjustments, perfect for capturing food from all perspectives. However, it’s a bit heavy for travel.

For on-the-go shooting, I have a lightweight tripod with Bluetooth control, ideal for remote photography and easily fits in a backpack.

And for indoor shots or videos where lighting is a challenge, the LED Ring Light Tripod is indispensable. It allows for easy adjustment of light settings and angles, ensuring your content always looks its best. For those who need something even more portable, a clip-on light can be a handy alternative.
